Shona has finally gone down for a nap after fighting sleep for 6 hours! So I thought I'd take this opportunity to post some words as well as photos. :-) [Edited to add that she woke up 15 minutes later. Blah.]
My poor baby is still pretty miserable and she still cries almost every waking moment (unless she's getting her diaper changed or taking a bath). Apparently she has really bad acid reflux...as well as "colic." After doing some research, it appears that "colic" is a term used for undiagnosed "pain in the gut." Whatever the case, she has all the symptoms. And it seems like I've tried every remedy known to mankind - with a success rate of 0%. I just calculated that we've spent $404 in the past 4 weeks on products that were guaranteed to provide relief to colicky babies, help them sleep, you name it. Did they work? No. And no, it's not a case of a baby that just wants to be held all the time. All I do is hold her and she's still not happy. I've even cut dairy out of my diet (which is a *huge* sacrifice for me because milk is like, my favorite thing in the world), among other things. Like, no beans. No tomato sauce. No citrus fruit. No broccoli. No cauliflower. No corn. And you wouldn't believe how many things contain dairy products. Even chips!!! (That is, what we call "chips" in America.) It's just so sad to see my baby in pain all the time and I can't do anything about it. :'( The good news is that they (whoever "they" are) say it only lasts about 4 months. I hope they're right.

Hi Leah,
Your baby is so beautful and we are so very happy for you and Caleb! I wanted to mention for the colic...have you tried digestive enzymes? When Rebekah was a baby she would scream if I ate almonds. I open up a capsule of an enzyme, as just a drop of water or breastmilk to it, mix the powder with the liquid, paste it onto my finger and swab her mouth with it. Within a couple of minutes she would stop crying. I got my enzymes from Transformation Enzymes. They are in Houston and are the best! Let me know if you need more info. Hope this helps!

Oh, I didn't know Shona had colic. Poor baby. :( I know it's hard to see your baby unhappy and not know what to do. Noah was a little bit colicky, though just in the evenings, for a few months. After trying forever to "fix it" for him, I finally just gave up and focused instead on comforting him, and trying not to take it personally. I hope things get better soon.
Babies that have colic often prefer to lie on their stomachs. Somehow helps to relieve the discomfort. Hope things improve soon.
Och sorry to hear of your probs Daisy. I will pray. I've been psychotic for a wee while so prayer life has been zero. But will pray you find something cheap that works. No I can't believe you've spent over $400 on stuff for her but the Lord will provide. Look to him. He is able.
Hugs
Jo
