Winter in March

Okay, just a couple days ago it was 80-something degrees and I went swimming. Then all the sudden, it got cold and rainy. It's actually been in the 40's today! I thought this was March???

But I didn't intend to write a blog entry about weather...even tho it's in the title...so off to another subject. I'm 3 days away from 35 weeks!!! And it's been nearly a month since I last posted. I don't know where the time has gone. I'm scheduled for an ultrasound Monday, dv, to make sure the baby is growing. I went nearly 6 weeks without gaining any weight, and then even after I managed to gain a couple pounds I'm still measuring smaller than I should be. So my doctor just wants to make sure everything is okay. She said not to worry - the baby's heart rate is good and she moves around a lot.

I'm trying to remember what else has happened. One thing that really stands out is the night we came home from church and Shannon got so excited she smashed into the outside water pipe and busted it. The water literally GUSHED out and it wasn't until 2 hours later that someone was able to turn it off. Meanwhile, we "flooded" the street and some of the water even seeped into the dining room and got the carpet wet. :-P The next evening, when Caleb got home from work we spent hours (literally) replacing the pipes. The next afternoon the city workers came and turned the water back on, but apparently our plumbing job wasn't good enough because it leaked. They gave me some tips on how to redo it, so I went and bought more pipe fixtures, primer, glue, etc. and proceeded to replace just about everything that Caleb and I had done the night before. :-( I ended up with a very sore back -- and decided that I don't want to be a plumber "when I grow up" -- but at least our water is back on.

March 7 was my other baby shower, attended mainly by relatives from the other side of the family. One of my aunts has a website with photos from it, but for now I'm just posting a couple. Aunt Terry bought the cake and it was so cute!!

Me with my cousin Josie. She is adorable!!

Oh yeah, I have a few random photos I want to include. The first is of some flowers on the tree in our backyard:

The next two are of the corner of the road that our street comes off of. (That means I get to see this beautiful scene every time I leave my house!! :-)) You have to click on the photos to see them better.

And then there's me.

And then this last photo shows my latest organization scheme for baby's room. (Melissa, that just reminded me - you asked where I get these cubical things from. They are from Target.) Seven out of eight of those white baskets contain blankets!!! I guess this baby will never be cold - people love giving her blankets. :-) You can also see my diaper pail. Last night I ordered large wet bags from Green Mountain Diapers to use as pail liners. (Rachel, please show Abigail that the picture she painted is hanging in baby's room. :-))

Okay, I really ought to get off here. Maybe it won't be so long until I update again...or maybe it will be even longer! We'll see. Cheers for now!

Ah, we'll have to look around here and see if Target has them!

On the weight/growth thing... we had a similar issue with Rebecca (nice... my midwife didn't tell me, just went to the ultrasound that she told us she'd recommend, but not require and requested measurements, LOL). She was measuring small, and we packed on the pounds by upping the protein intake a LOT. Anyway, she seems to be a happy, healthy baby, so I don't think her "small measurement" was too bad, lol. She was only measuring a month behind... eek! She came out about an inch shorter than average, and a half pound lighter, so, we didn't do too badly... :-)
