flowers from Grammie

Aren't they lovely? Grammie grew them. Oh and guess what? I have grown 6 beautiful red tomatoes so far! So Caleb and Nat had fresh, home-grown tomatoes with their lunch today. :-)

Today

Okay, let's talk about Today. I got up early and made/packed Caleb and Nat's lunches before they left for work. Later on, I cleaned up the house a bit before Grandpa and Grammie arrived. Then they got here so I put on some coffee to brew. We had coffee and donuts and visited for a couple hours (very enjoyable. I *love* their visits). Then they had to leave because Grammie had an appointment. Around noon, Caleb met me at the bank (quite exciting because I never get to see him in the middle of a work day--and this was a last minute thing) to sign some papers. See, I am hopefully buying a car tomorrow. See photo below:

It's a Honda del Sol--probably my second favorite car (Ford Mustang comes first). I also like the Mazda RX8 but that's a little out of my price range for now (maybe once I'm a nurse ;-)).

Um, so now I am looking at some websites that sell nursing scrubs/uniforms. If anyone knows of
a good site, let me know. It's incredible how much money I have to come up with before the program even starts: uniforms, CPR certification, vaccines, criminal background test, drug test, TB screen, medical tools/supplies........just to name a few things! Anyhow, I am getting VERY excited and sort of "can't wait" to start! But yeah, ME GOING TO NURSING SCHOOL? I'd never have thought.....that was like the last thing in the world that I wanted to do "when I grow up." Well, shows how much people can change!

Grammie brought me some lovely flowers today. I am going to take a pic and post it in a few mins.

Well, I'm gonna get going and start scheduling vaccines, CPR course, etc.

Bye for now.

my old job

Just a couple photos from my old job, in case anyone is interested. lol. :) It really was fun being a waitress. I miss it. I miss the customers, meeting new people, getting tips. :-D It was very rewarding to have satisfied customers; and quite surprising, though equally rewarding, when they made comments like "You're the best waitress I've ever had!" And then to clean the table after they've left and find a generous tip!

Nat's job at the car wash

Nat works Saturdays at the carwash...and Monday through Friday at Schlumberger. Yep, he's busy. Hardly ever see him anymore. In the photo below, Nat is standing next to the palm tree.

Please note the truck (photo below) to the left. It is for sale, and I would like someone to buy it for me.

And here's a photo of one of my handbags. Anyone wanna buy it?

picking strawberries

These photos are slightly antique--I've been meaning to post them but hadn't gotten around to it till now. This was a Saturday; Caleb and I went to Froberg's Farm and picked strawberries. It was a lot of fun.

We now have internet!

Last night Nat (with my useful and sometimes not-so-useful assistance) got the internet set up here at home. At this point it only works on Nat's laptop because we haven't managed to get the wireless part going. For a while, nothing would work--and then I persuaded Nat to follow the directions (you know, "First plug in the power supply. Next plug in the phone line" ...etc.), and what do you know?! We had internet! But...I still don't see why it matters whether you plug in the phone line first or the Ethernet (why does spell check want that capitalized?) cable or whatever.

Today Shannon and I played in the water and then we walked to the park. It's been a lovely, hot, relaxing day. :)

I guess I better get some supper going before my people get home. I *know* I had several things to say in this post but they have slipped my mind. At least I have a mind. Or I thought I did....

Oh yes...I remember one. This is in response to Sharon's question about where I will attend nursing school. I will be attending the RN program at Alvin College. I should graduate in May 2010.....sounds like ages away!

Cheers!

Grad pics

the news (for real)

I didn't realize I hadn't posted since the "April Fool's" joke. Well, I do have a few bits of real news. I did in fact get a job--as a waitress in a tea room/restaurant here in town. It was a really fun job--I loved being a waitress--but the boss was a *nightmare*. He couldn't control himself so no matter how much he liked people, he would chew us out constantly...and in front of customers. He temporarily hired a lady to help with a couple catering jobs. She was in her 60's but not in very good health. Well, he had no patience with her and finally, he grabbed her and shook her to make her pay attention. Anyway, I quit my job last week because it was an impossible situation. The boss and the lady that helps him run the place have repeatedly called and begged me to come back, promising me that things will be better, but my answer is NO.

On May 13 I graduated, summa cum laude, with a degree in health science!!! I was so happy, because during last semester I didn't think I was going to do well in chemistry. But I made an A so I was able to keep my 3.9 GPA. No hope of a 4.0, though. :-( Graduation was a lot of fun, and afterwards Aunt Jeanne had a party for me at her house. Then on Friday, Nat had a party for me at our house and lots of people came; Grammie and Aunt Jewell came too.

And then, I got the official letter saying that I've been accepted into nursing school. So that was the best part. Last week I got my second round of the Hep B vaccine but I still have more vaccines to get before the program starts.

Yesterday all the girls came over and we had fruit smoothies. It was great.

Okay, gotta run. Will upload some pics real quick.
