STUPID blog
My last posting has all the paragraphs run together, thanks to blogger.com. And it won't let me change it either. Thanks Blogger!
FUN

So...I guess I haven't "blogged" for a couple days. Well, I did on Tuesday so I just have to catch up from there.
Wednesday was lots of fun. The Alvin Starbuck's is doing a "buy one get one free" deal, so I had called up Merc and asked if she wanted to meet up for a drink. At 10:15 Wednesday morning, Nat and I met Merc, Mrs. Hembd and Ben at Starbuck's. I got a Java Chip frappucino (they're like, TOO good). So we visited for a while, and did a Starbuck's survey which ended up getting each of us a coupon for a free Starbuck's drink -- anything we want! Then Mrs. Hembd, Merc and I went to Cato's (which is like 4 doors down from Starbuck's. We shopped for a long time, and then at 1:00 I had to go to math class. I got to math class 15 minutes early, and the teacher walked in right at 1:00. There were only a few of us there since most people insist on being at least 5 minutes late. The first thing the teacher said was, "OK, everyone take out a sheet of paper, write your name at the top and pass it to the front." We hesitated for a second, thinking it would be a pop quiz or something, so she said, "Hurry, pass it up. It's a good thing." We passed our papers to her, right as a few other students came walking in. As soon as she had collected all the papers, she said "OK, that's 5 bonus points for being on time." (And too bad for anyone else.)
We went to the prayer meeting last night, and then on the way home Caleb and I stopped at Wal-Mart and bought a knee brace. See, the week before school started, I slipped when I was getting out of a vehicle. I didn't think anything of it at first, but then the past two weeks my knee has been hurting quite badly--especially going up and down stairs (which I do plenty of since my classes are on the second floor). I think the weight lifting class has made matters worse. Yesterday I did 100 lbs on the leg press and 80 lbs on the toe raise, and my knee has been in agony ever since. So here I am, hobbling around with this massive knee brace on. :(
I had class at 8:00 this morning, which was supposed to start with a 30 minute exam. We were all prepared, with nothing but a pencil and a calculator on our desks, but the teacher walked in and said, "OK, we're going to pick up where we left off. Everyone turn to chapter 4, page 41....." We all looked at each other like, "Huh? Did she forget?" She then proceeded to lecture for about 30 minutes and then said, "Well, since my Monday/Wednesday class is a little behind from the holiday last week [MLK's birthday or something], I don't want us to get too far ahead." We just KNEW she was going to say that we'd get out early. But instead she said, "So we'll spend the next 30 minutes taking a test." Argh. Anyway, it wasn't as bad as I expected.
Lab was at 9:30, and we had it in the physics lab which was kind of neat. Right as lab was starting, the electricity went out (the weather was really bad) and it sounded like there was a tornado outside. Everyone was pretty scared. But the lights came back on and we had lab anyway.
So that is what I have done between Tuesday and today (01/31/08 11:00 AM), with lots of homework thrown in there as well.
Now I am going home to clean my house and get ready for the party tomorrow. I really needed to get the grass mowed...but it's been pouring down rain. :-(
Pardon any typos, etc. I don't feel like looking for/correcting them.
Cheers!

Various things

Note: This photo doesn't relate to anything said in the following post. Photo is from 11/29/07 (Thanksgiving).
Friday was a really interesting day. Caleb took the day off work because we had been invited to a retirement party for Aunt Josie. She has worked at Texas A&M (Galveston) for 29 years. We went to the party and had a really nice time, albeit it was EXTREMELY cold. They barbequed brisket, etc. We stayed the whole time - from 11 to 1. Uncle Steve and Aunt Trish were there, Uncle Jimmy and Aunt Ana, Uncle Ricky, Grandma Betty, Izzy, as well as some of Aunt Josie's foster family. After the party, we went and visited Grandpa and Grammie for a few hours. It was really fun. Then we went home and I started making a grocery list because I needed to go to the store. All the sudden, Caleb and I decided that we (Nat, Caleb and I) should go to Aunt Terry's for the Friday night get together. They weren't expecting any of us, so it was a big surprise when we showed up. :-) We ate supper, visited, had worship, etc. and left around 10:00 pm.
On Saturday Nat and I met Aunt Jeanne at the gym to do our workout (since we didn't do it on Friday). After working out, we were really hungry so we went and got free hotdogs at this "grand opening event" for AcuTexas (or somethin')...hosted in the parking lot of Kroger's.
Yesterday I had math class and then Nat and I worked out again. When I got home I didn't feel like doing my homework :-P ... even though I have a ton...so I worked out in the yard and played with Shannon. Then I decided to have my own barbeque (Nat had to go to his evening class and Caleb was at work late -- until 10 PM, at least!). So I barbequed two hotdogs all for myself. :-}
And today...um, I had chemistry class and chemistry lab. S'posed to have a short quiz in chem class (on Thursday)...well, just found out that it's a 30 min quiz! Not so short, huh! In lab, we had a bunch of experiments to do, and we were allowed to work in pairs...well, we put two pairs together and worked in quads (?) so we each worked on a different thing and then combined all our results...and we got done really fast!
Better go. I have to go talk to Dr. Wheeler about something.
Found: pair of socks

On Saturday morning, I was cleaning out a cabinet in the kitchen. In the cabinet is a birdhouse I have been meaning to hang in the backyard. In the process of doing some organization, I pulled the birdhouse out and noticed there was something soft inside. What do you know?! It was Abigail's socks. :) She must've stuffed them in there! I have mailed them to the FW manse (because Nat was already sending something there and he kindly let me include the socks).

Kitty cat...and Shannon
My blog is back...for now
Whether or not my explanation will be satisfactory to each and every one of you is something which I am unable to predict...but that will not stop me from attempting an explanation.
Formalities aside...!
For some reason or other, most of the computers on campus do NOT allow me to upload pictures to my blog (whether or not this is intentional discrimination I will leave my readers to decide). Well, since I was unable to attach photos, I decided I may as well not blog--because it seems that people are very unlikely to visit a blog without photos.
However, I have just now discovered (01/24/08) that the computer labs in the new science building have very capable computers and I am able to upload photos to my blog!! Woohoo!
So here I am! And here is my blog.
I won't attempt to update my blog with all that has happened since I last wrote, because 1) I certainly wouldn't be able to remember it all; 2) Most of it was probably pretty unimportant.
The highlight is that I survived last semester (and made a 4.0 which was entirely unexpected!). My group and I (in speech class) managed to give a 30 minute presentation on the topic of conflict, and it turned out to be really fun.
Winter break was very welcome as well as very fun, and January 14 came far too soon. I applied to nursing school on the 14th, but won't get an answer until mid May.
So now I'm in the midst of a new semester which seems like nothing but math. I'm doing math, chemistry (i.e. MATH) and weight lifting. Weight lifting is the only course I like. :-P
Today was the first day that we actually DID something in chemistry lab (we've just watched videos and done quizzes so far). Today we just worked with water and measuring devices and had lots of fun getting people, desks, books, paper, and everything else in sight...WET. (Unintentionally, of course - at least most of the time.)
Last night we had the prayer meeting in the dark (with a teeny bit of light coming from the bathroom area).
Hmm...what else? Oh yeah, I just got an email from Aunt Josie and they are having a retirement party for her tomorrow!!!! Nat and I will probably go to it.
Well, I'm gonna run now--Nat and I are going to Aunt Jeanne's for lunch. Yummy. :-)
Byeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!
